As part of the event preparation, the 2020 Olympic official mascot was finalize trough a voting system participated by 16, 769 elementary schools. Approved by the International Olympic Committee, we will witness a total of 55 games contested by athletes around the world, , 33 for Olympic and 22 for Paralympics.
Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee is currently conducting the Tokyo 2020 Medal Project to manufacture approximately 5,000 gold, silver and bronze medals for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This project is targeting a 100% recycling rate in the refining of gold, respecting the environment by using scrap metals in the manufacture of medals. The organizer also expect and in need of almost 110,000 volunteers, from games to City volunteers.
