Autumn starts from the late September to early December depending on the weather and location. This season is considered to be one of the beautiful seasons that you can discover its absolute beauty in Japan. The viewing of Autumn leaves is called momijigari (紅葉狩り)in Japanese. Momijigari comes from the two Japanese words momiji (紅葉) meaning "red leaves" or "maple tree" and kari (狩り).
To admire the outdoor autumn beauty, some prefer going for hike in the wild while some other just walk around in the park or garden. The autumn colors in Minno Park usually reach their peak around late November. This park is located on the outskirts of Osaka. It is one of the best places in the Kansai Region to see the autumn colors in a natural setting, as opposed to the attractive fall foliage found at temples and gardens.
Arashiyama is one of Kyoto’s most picturesque autumn destinations.There is a sightseeing train line called “Saga Scenic Railway” that usually runs along the Hozugawa River between Arashiyama and Kameoka.
